Wokabi

From the Maasai tribe, this young woman brushes her hand over her braided hair. Thin bangles adorn her wrist while a thicker band encapsulates her upper arm. Her eyes stare forward, a symbol of strength and power, the scars around her eyes are raised representing beauty and family pride. Her ears are stretched by large wooden plates and around her neck lie multiple necklaces, given a turquoise hue. Her breasts and torso are exposed and transform into a ‘V’ shape before disappearing into the wooden base. Named Wokabi, meaning “She is of the Maasai”, this piece is cast in the finest resin before being finished in bronze.
